MSc Psychology Top-Up — 6 Months
Build your understanding of human behaviour and develop research skills through a Level 7 in Psychology pathway followed, for eligible applicants, by an MSc Psychology top-up. SeekStudy provides Level 7 teaching and student support and has a signed agency agreement with Colombo International Institute of Higher Education (CIIHE).
Programme at a glance
- Level 7 stage: Level 7 in Psychology, with teaching and student support from SeekStudy.
- Top-up delivery: CIIHE, subject to entry assessment and admission approval.
- Master’s award: University of Wolverhampton, following successful completion of the approved MSc Psychology top-up.
- Top-up duration: Six months for eligible applicants who already meet top-up entry requirements, subject to the intake timetable and successful completion. Any additional Level 7 study is separate.
Who is this programme for?
This pathway may interest learners developing their knowledge of psychology and applicants who already hold a relevant postgraduate qualification. Entry to the top-up requires assessment of your exact qualification, credits, experience and English-language evidence. Progression is subject to admission approval.
Before applying, consider your goal: understanding behaviour for your current role, moving into a related field, or preparing for a professional psychology pathway. Each goal calls for a different plan after graduation.
What you will study
The pathway has two stages: Level 7 in Psychology, followed by the dissertation/research top-up delivered by CIIHE for admitted students. Request the Level 7 syllabus and assessment requirements for your intake. CIIHE’s published top-up includes a 60-credit Research Project.
Understand people in context
Explore questions such as how groups affect decisions, why people respond differently to the same situation, and how development shapes experience. You will practise comparing explanations rather than treating a single theory as a complete answer.
Develop research and evidence skills
Learn to frame a research question, assess the quality of published studies, choose an appropriate method and interpret results. These skills are useful when evaluating claims, writing reports and making decisions supported by evidence.
Complete an independent dissertation
A dissertation gives you the opportunity to investigate a focused psychological question. Planning, ethical review, data collection, analysis and clear reporting are important parts of the research process. Discuss topic suitability and supervision arrangements before committing to a project.
Online learning and study commitment
CIIHE publishes a six-month duration for the MSc Psychology top-up. The time required for the preceding Level 7 stage is separate. Ask SeekStudy for the full pathway timetable, delivery mode, supervision arrangements and assessment deadlines for your intake.
Plan regular time for reading, activities, assignments and research. A reliable internet connection, a suitable computer and a quiet study space will help. Flexible study still requires meeting deadlines and allowing additional time during assessment and dissertation periods.
Entry requirements and application documents
For the SeekStudy recruitment route, CIIHE’s programme entry schedule specifies an Ofqual-regulated postgraduate diploma in Psychology worth 120 credits, at least three years of team-lead or management experience, and a GCE O/L English C pass or equivalent. Submit your qualification, transcript, experience and English-language evidence for assessment. Admission requires CIIHE’s approval.
Prepare the following for your initial enquiry:
- Your postgraduate qualification certificate and transcript showing the subject and credits.
- Your CV, including relevant employment and study experience.
- Any available evidence of English-language study or test results.
- A short explanation of your study goals and preferred intake.
Additional documents may be requested during admission. Use the application form for supporting documents and check the instructions before submitting personal information.
Career opportunities and further study
Psychology develops skills in analysing behaviour, evaluating evidence, communicating findings and designing research. Depending on your experience and the employer’s requirements, these skills can support work in:
- Research and evaluation: research support, surveys, programme evaluation and further academic study.
- People and organisations: human resources, recruitment, learning and development, and employee wellbeing projects.
- Customer and user research: understanding customer needs, behaviour and user experience.
- Community and education support: programme coordination and support roles suited to your existing qualifications.
These are possible directions, not guaranteed employment outcomes. Build relevant experience alongside your studies and check the qualifications required for individual vacancies.
Professional psychology recognition
Professional recognition must be checked for this specific CIIHE-delivered top-up route. Do not assume that accreditation advertised for another MSc Psychology route applies here. This degree alone does not qualify you to practise as a regulated psychologist; further training and registration requirements depend on your intended profession and country.
Fees, intake and student careers support
Ask SeekStudy for a written quotation showing the currency, what the fee includes, payment dates and applicable refund terms. Confirm your start date and study schedule before accepting an offer.
SeekStudy students can also explore the SeekHire student careers portal for jobs, internships and co-op opportunities. Student access is subject to approval, and individual opportunities have their own eligibility requirements.

Will my qualification be accepted for the top-up?
Your exact qualification, transcript, relevant experience and English evidence must be assessed against the top-up entry requirements. Ask for written confirmation of admission before committing to the top-up.
Can I complete my master’s in six months?
Eligible applicants may complete the MSc Psychology top-up in approximately six months, subject to the intake timetable and successful completion.
